As from 1st January 2021, Malta, as a Party to the Basel Convention and as a member of the EU, is obliged to comply with a new regime for the shipment of certain hazardous and non-hazardous plastic waste which have been included under the control mechanisms of the Basel Convention, as well as additional specificities which are applicable for shipments within the EU and EEA.

Such changes might have implications on certain business operations, such as operators producing and managing plastic waste (e.g. manufacturers, waste collectors, brokers, etc.).

In preparation for the adoption of this new regulatory regime, the Environment and Resource Authority (ERA) in collaboration with MEUSAC is organizing an online information session on Friday 11th December 2020 starting at 1100 hrs. for which interested parties and stakeholders and encouraged to participate.

Proceedings will be mainly held in English.  However, questions can be fielded in both Maltese and English.
