Yesterday, ERA officers responded to a report of a turtle found in St Julian’s. Unfortunately, the turtle was found deceased. Preliminary observations indicate it may have been struck by a boat, however, the exact cause of death will be confirmed following a necropsy.
As we now expect turtles to start nesting, we urge the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution while out at sea. Should the public spot an injured turtle or in distress sightings should immediately be reported by calling ERA on 2292 3500 or Wildlife Rescue Team on 9999 9505.
