Don’t let celebrations pollute our seas!
During routine inspections within Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), ERA officers find many types of litter. During this inspection, a balloon was found at sea after it had floated away from a celebration.
This serves as a reminder that litter from land can easily reach the sea and pose a risk to ecosystems and wildlife.
We remind the public that open-air release of any type of balloon or plastic confetti is prohibited.
