On 12th February 2026, the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) held an online information session for operators and stakeholders on the new EU Waste Shipment Regulation [Regulation (EU) 2024/1157] and the Digital Waste Shipment System (DIWASS).
The session provided:
- A refresher on the key provisions of the new Regulation, and
- An overview of DIWASS and the associated permitting, procedural, and compliance-related changes ahead of its mandatory use from 21st May 2026.
The second part of the session focused on the practical implementation of DIWASS, including operator registration, submission of notifications, authentication requirements, timelines, and other operational considerations for operators involved in waste shipments.
The recording of the session, the presentation, and the transcript of the Q&A session are available below for those who wish to revisit the meeting or who were unable to attend.
