In line with Article 51 of the Environment Protection Act (Cap. 549), the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) is preparing Malta’s National Restoration Plan (NRP) in accordance with the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/1991), which entered into force on 18 August 2024.
The NRP will outline how Malta plans to meet nature restoration targets across land and sea, with a focus on improving biodiversity and ecosystem resilience. It will address national restoration needs and incorporate input from different sectors and the public.
