We are restoring the sand dunes at Armier!
– Around 400 indigenous plants were planted, including Sea Daffodil, Sand Couch Grass and Sea Medick, together with other species typical of this environment.
– Sand and Posidonia were added to replenish the dune and control the growth of ruderal species. Cordoning and several information signs were also installed to help protect the area.
– As part of this project, alien species such as Giant Reed, Hottentot fig, Cape sorrel and acacia were removed, while measures were taken to keep their growth under control.
– The work is still ongoing in collaboration with Ambjent Malta, with a new extension that will include the removal of further invasive alien plants, including acacia, the planting of indigenous species, and the installation of new fencing and information signs.
