- Background
This draft Legal Notice is intended to formally designate the Ċirkewwa Marine Park under the Environment Protection Act (Cap. 549), formalising its establishment under Maltese Law.
The Legal Notice includes the delineation of the Ċirkewwa Marine Park’s boundaries, which are located in the limits of Iċ-Ċirkewwa/Il-Qammieħ, lying within an existing Natura 2000 site and Marine Protected Area: the Special Protection Area (SPA) known as Żona fil-Baħar madwar Għawdex (MT0000112), and brief direction on the purpose of the Marine Park.
Formal establishment in this manner will enable site management to effectively promote and conserve the ecological and natural features of the Marine Park, while facilitating the sustainable use of its resources for recreation and other appropriate activities

In line with article 55 of the Environment Protection Act (Cap. 549), the public is invited to make submissions to ERA with their comments as to why and how these regulations could be amended.
