The Coastal and Marine Team within the Compliance and Enforcement Directorate is responsible for enforcing an array of industrial and environment/nature protection legislation, for which the Environment and Resources Authority has been designed as the Competent Authority. The legislation falling within the remit of the Team may be categorized into that dealing with specific industrial and other overarching waste management activities, potentially having an adverse environmental impact; and that dealing specifically with the protection of coastal and marine environments.

The Coastal and Marine Team’s primary function is to conduct pro-active and reactive enforcement operations in an effort to prevent environmental damage and to investigate and initiate action against  illegalities when these occur; with a more focused and comprehensive approach on activities and non-compliance’s related to the coastal and marine environment.
