Various events which occur in Natura 2000 sites or Special Areas of Conservation of National importance and include less than 50 persons including music events, clean-ups, barbecues, etc. may be organised without the need of a specific permit as long as good practice rules are followed. To this effect, ERA has published General rules for certain organized activities and events involving crowds.

In such cases, a prior notification of the activity shall be submitted to ERA at least one month before the event on [email protected] with the details of the checklist in Annex 1 of the document, including a site plan indicating the area of the event. Your proposal will be assessed in accordance with S.L 549.172 and S.L.549.44. Provided that, on a case by case basis the ERA may request a formal Environmental Permit prior to the activity occurring or otherwise impose additional conditions including the provision of an appropriate bank guarantee to ensure adherence with conditions.

For Activities in Protected Areas sites which involves 50 or more individuals, a permit is required in accordance with S.L. 549.172. Applications for a formal permit are to be submitted through the ERIS web portal.
